About Torben

Torben Töniges studied Cognitive Computer Science and Intelligent Systems at Bielefeld University. He received his Bachelor of Science in 2009 and the Master of Science in 2011. Torben Töniges stayed at the University of Birmingham for six month to write his Master's thesis with the title "From search to delivery: A systems approach to robust object grasping for a mobile robot" in the EU FP7 project "CogX: Cognitive Systems that Self-Understand and Self-Extend". After completing his master's degree, he worked temporally at the Technical University of Vienna and joined the Applied Informatics Group at Bielefeld University. At present he is a PhD student and is supervised by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Franz Kummert and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Britta Wrede. He has worked in cooperation with the Daimler AG Ulm and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) Cologne. His current fields of research are computer vision, machine learning, human-machine interaction, multimodal pattern analysis, and adaptive work environments.
