Sebastian Wrede received the diploma in computer science from Bielefeld University, Germany, in August 2002. Subsequently, he joined the research group for Applied Computer Science at Bielefeld University, Germany. From 2002 to 2005 he worked within the European Union IST project VAMPIRE. Subsequently, he worked in the IST project COGNIRON and joined the Research Institute for Cognition and Robotics (CoR-Lab), completing his PhD thesis in July 2008. Since 2009 he is heading the research group on Cognitive Systems Engineering at the CoR-Lab. His main research interests are software architectures for the development of cognitive computer (vision) systems and robotic systems. Further research interests are XML and database technologies as well as software and process modeling.

The book chapter "An Integration Framework for Developing Interactive Robots" published in the title "Software Engineering for Experimental Robotics" is now available online. If you have access to the Springer portal, you may view the paper at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-540-68951-5_17

Sebastian Wrede has been a member of the ICVS 2007 (International Conference on Computer Vision Systems) organizing committee (chaired by Prof. Gerhard Sagerer and Prof. Monique Thonnat). The conference took place in March 2007 at Bielefeld University.

He is in the editorial board of the "Journal on Software Engineering in Robotics" (JOSER), a member of the IEEE (RAS TC-SOFT),  the Gesellschaft für Informatik (GI) and the euCognition Network of Excellence.
