Anja Philippsen received her Master's degree from Bielefeld University in 2013. In her Master's thesis she investigated the mapping between articulatory and acoustic speech parameters by applying recent machine learning algorithms.

Subsequently she joined the Applied Informatics Group. Since 2014 she is receiving a CITEC scholarship to do her PhD about "Bootstrapping speech production skills in human robot interaction".

In her research she aims at the application of machine learning approaches from the robotics to the problem of speech acquisition. She is especially interested in developmental algorithms inspired by children's development.
