Frank Hegel is postdoctoral design researcher in the Applied Informatics Group (AGAI) at Bielefeld University. He received his Master’s degree in Industrial Design from the University of Wuppertal and his PhD (Dr.-Ing.) in Intelligent Systems from Bielefeld University, Germany. From 2006 to 2010 he participated in the CRC 673 “Alignment in Communication” with regard to emotional robots and design of social robots. Since 2010 he is involved in several projects related to the topics of social robotics, industrial design, anthropomorphism, and visual semiotics.
