DESIRE - Deutsche Servicerobotik-Initative (2005-2009)

The German SErvice Robotics InitiativE (DESIRE) is a cooperation of both industry, both large and small, (Kuka, Schunk, Siemans, GPS, InMach, NeoBotix), research institutes (FZI, FhG IPA, FhG IAIS) and leading universities (Bielefeld, Bochum, Freiburg).

BARTHOC Senior In Bielefeld, work is carried out on the anthropomorphic platform BARTHOC, see figure on the right. Our research areas are
  • integration and coordination of perception and action
  • combination of exploratory and guided learning
  • collaborative creation of interaction spaces
  • principles of human-robot dialog, including non-verbal communication
  • analysis of motionese in HRI
