RoboCup@Home: Walk and Talk well done |
Anyway, back to the "walk and talk". In it, the robot follows a "walker" (a team member) around the appartment and at referee-selected spots the walker teaches the robot the name of the location. Afterwards, the robot has drive to named locations. The main challenge is that location cannot be known beforehand, because the referees rearrange some furniture before the team starts. For us, thats no big deal, but it means that the motion cannot be completely pre-recorded.
In this task, David taught three locations to ToBI, which were then succesfully driven to and ToBI also left the stage with two minutes time left over, so very well in time. The maximum number of locations is five and so far, just one team (Homer, from Koblenz) managed to achieve this. The competition is still on-going though, so we'll see how the others do.
