RoboCup@Home: ToBI Completed First Round

The Open Challenge is over and thus, the first round is now complete. Both tasks from today went quite well and I think we have really good chances to at least keep our place, maybe even improve it. So, I have high hopes to see Team ToBI in the second round, but lets keep our fingers crossed ;-) It was also quite interesting to see what the other teams are up to and  thus I added a few photos from the other teams, too.

In the Open Challenge, teams can show anything they want and Team TOBI demonstrated Human Augmented Mapping, with Frederic showing ToBI around while Sven explained the demo to the audience. Everything went really well and from the questions of the audience, which were about the room map representation and the dialog, it was clear that the referees understood that what we're doing here goes beyond simple, metric navigation or landmarks. This was quite important, as in Hannover the judges had not been convinced by the demo and didn't give good marks. Fortunately, I think that this time, the achievement was much more appreciated.

The Open Challenge took more than three hours -- all teams participate and they have more time than in the other tasks (3+7 minutes, instead of 1+5), plus a question session at the end which may also take 3 minutes. Add some slack and it really adds up.
